Martin Sirungai
Martin’s calf rearing skills has enabled him to maintain a healthy stock.
Martin aged 45, is a member of Bethlehem Kapretwa FFS, Kitale Diocese. He owns a quarter acre and has a household size of 6 people. He grows maize, beans, cassava and pumpkin. He also keeps a cow, sheep, goats and chicken. FFS has trained him on better farming skills and use of compost manure, which he also sells to earn income. His small farm produces enough food for his family. He practices contour farming to conserve soil. Since joining FFS, he has planted 26 trees of which 3 are fruits. Martin’s main challenge is the small size of land – he is planning to lease more land using proceeds from sale of his chicken, which is thriving after learning how to control diseases through vaccination. He has already purchased a cow using KES 20,000 from sale of chicken and KES 3000 from sale of compost manure. He has also trained 2 neighbours. Martin is grateful for Kingdom Life training which has made him like reading the Bible and evangelizing his community – he reaches out to his village to share the Good News of Jesus Christ.
