Cynthia Lemoshira

Taught her 6 neighbours on the farming techniques learnt at FFS

Cynthia Lemoshira is a member of Namayiana Samuli FFS, Kajiado County. Aged 28 years, she is married with 2 children. She is well educated with a Diploma in Social Work and Community Development. She has transferred knowledge from FFS to her two-acre garden. FFS learning has enabled her to prepare and use compost manure to improve her soil on which she grows Maize, beans, sorghum and vegetables. She also keeps cows, sheep, goats and chickens.

Kingdom Life has taught her to care for God’s creation. She relates well with others and supports vulnerable members of her community by sharing her vegetables with those who do not have any. She has taught her 6 neighbours on the farming techniques she learnt at FFS. Her main challenges are drought and water scarcity, which make it impossible to do irrigation. Her source of water for domestic use and livestock is a public dam, and she is not able to carry water from the dam to irrigate her garden. Other challenges are the distance to the market – the nearest is Emali, which is about 10 km away. Crop damage by wildlife, especially elephants, is also a major threat.

Her message to other youth is that knowing God is key to successful farming, as God is the farmer and He blesses the work of our hands. If one plants crops with blessed hands, one will always harvest. Cynthia says we must take good care of our soils for farming to be sustainable. We must not fear the costs associated with farming. If you are ready to spend, you will make a good harvest.

Kingdom Life has taught Cynthia to faithfully tithe 10 per cent of her income as well as share her food with the needy, in order to receive blessings from God.
